Your child runs a plant cell and learns it by keeping it alive

A plant cannot chase its food or run from anything. Plant Cell Quest turns a leaf cell into a city of twelve districts built around those two facts and puts your child in charge. The city sags. Sunlight falls on the leaf and no food is made. The whole place goes limp although the wall is perfectly intact. Your child has to work out which part of the cell is responsible and repair it.

By the end they know all twelve by name and by job, including the three a plant has and an animal does not: the cell wall, the chloroplasts and the large central vacuole. They can tell you what actually changes inside a wilting plant and why a plant cell needs mitochondria when it already has chloroplasts.

Eighteen missions, nine kinds of activity. Deciding what gets through the membrane, ordering photosynthesis from light to sugar to spent energy, sorting shipments, clue trails and four alarms going off at once.

A wrong answer teaches instead of just failing. Miss a question on the 25 question test and the game walks your child straight into that district to read it again, then lets them answer once more. Twenty correct prints their certificate.

Fourteen real microscope photographs, including onion skin where the cell walls are unmistakable.
