Below the Surface takes your child on an adventure beneath our feet, thirty-six illustrated quests about soil, roots, caves, and the amazing creatures that live underground. Each quest teaches real things worth knowing, an earthworm that breathes through its skin, a fennec fox built for the desert, how a cave slowly forms, before a single question is ever asked. Your child reads the story first, or listens to it read aloud, then answers questions to prove they understood it, earns the quest, and uncovers another piece of a hidden picture. Get through all thirty-six, and the whole world above and below the ground is revealed. Miss a question, and it simply says try again, never just marks it wrong.

Why families choose it:

No accounts, no logins, no ads, nothing tracked, ever. It runs completely offline, one file, opens in any browser, no internet required after download. Every passage, question, and Bible verse is read aloud in a warm, recorded voice that lights up each sentence as it goes, so early readers can follow along, with pause and speed controls for any pace. Every quest ends in Scripture, New International Version, built to point back to truth, not just facts for their own sake.

Built for more than one child: each explorer gets their own private code, no names and no sign-in, so several children can share one device and each keep their own quests and puzzle pieces. And a parent or teacher can check any child's progress just by entering their code, it shows how far along they are without ever signing in as them or changing a thing.

What you get: one downloadable file. Double-click to open, no installation, no account creation, works on Mac, Windows, iPad, or Chromebook.
